PJH Dog Training Referral Agreement for Dog Walkers & Pet Professionals
This agreement is made between PJH Dog Training ("Trainer") and [Dog Caregiver's Name] ("Caregiver"), effective as of [Date].
The purpose of this agreement is to establish a mutually beneficial referral system to increase client engagement for both parties while ensuring a high standard of service for referred clients.
1. Program Overview
The Trainer and Caregiver agree to refer clients to each other’s services based on client needs. Referrals will be tracked and rewarded through agreed-upon incentives to maintain a balanced partnership. This is a voluntary partnership and does not establish an employment or independent contractor relationship unless the Caregiver earns over $800 in referral perks a year, at which point an independent contractor agreement may be required for tax purposes.
2. Responsibilities of the Parties
Trainer Responsibilities:
Refer clients seeking dog caregiving services (walking, sitting, grooming, etc.) to the Caregiver.
Provide promotional support, including featuring the Caregiver’s business on social media, newsletters, or other marketing channels if desired and applicable as per the compensation schedule.
Offer training resources or tips to assist the Caregiver in managing difficult dog behaviors, if desired and applicable as per the compensation schedule.
Track referrals sent to the Caregiver and provide updates on referral status.
Caregiver Responsibilities:
Refer clients seeking dog training services (e.g., for behavioral issues, agility training, leash pulling, etc.) to the Trainer.
Distribute PJH Dog Training’s promotional materials (business cards, flyers, social media links).
Send any promotional materials to the Trainer to be included with any referrals made by the Trainer.
Maintain high standards of professionalism and client service when interacting with referred clients.
Track referrals sent to the Trainer and cooperate in reporting progress.
3. Referral Tracking
Referrals will be tracked through a unique referral code, link, or form provided by each party.
Both parties will share referral data monthly to ensure accurate reporting and reward allocation.
Each referral must include the referred client’s name, contact information, and date of referral and referral code.
4. Incentives and Rewards
Incentives for Caregivers:
1st Referral: Choose between a $20 gift card or 10% off a single private training session or group class for the Caregiver’s own dog (valid for one use, transferable once).
2nd Referral: Receive an exclusive training guide or tip sheet on handling challenging dogs.
3rd Referral: Certificate for a free agility training session or participation in an Advanced Leash Skills Workshop, which focuses on leash handling techniques for managing pulling, reactivity, and distractions in real-world environments (valid for one use, transferable once).
4th Referral: Feature in PJH Dog Training’s email newsletter or social media.
5th Referral: Social media spotlight featuring your business + $50 cash bonus!
Certificates are transferrable as the Caregiver sees fit but both the Caregiver or the new possessor of the certificate must adhere to all of the Trainer's standard intake and waiver of liability procedures, rules, and policies.
5. What Happens After the 5th Referral?
To maintain engagement beyond the 5th referral, Caregivers will enter a VIP Partner Tier, receiving:
Ongoing Referrals from PJH Dog Training – Priority placement in our recommended caregiver network.
Special Discounts on Training Services – 10% discount on personal training needs.
Quarterly Bonus Rewards – For every 5 additional referrals, a choice of a $50 cash bonus or a free private training session.
Invitations to Exclusive Events – Access to special workshops or networking events for partners.
6. Fairness in Caregiver Selection for Referrals
PJH Dog Training is committed to promoting transparency and fairness in how referrals are distributed among participating caregivers. To that end:
Caregiver selection for referrals will be based primarily on client-specific needs such as location, availability, dog behavior requirements, service type, and compatibility.
PJH Dog Training will strive to rotate referrals among qualified caregivers when multiple participants are equally suited, in order to provide equitable opportunities.
Caregivers are encouraged to keep their service area, skills, and availability updated to improve matching accuracy.
While active participation in the program (e.g., co-marketing, timely follow-up, and clear communication) may increase access to certain perks or long-term benefits, it will have limited impact on referral distribution to preserve fairness and allow newer members an equal opportunity to participate meaningfully.
Any concerns regarding fairness or participation may be brought to PJH Dog Training for review and discussion.
7. Promotion and Collaboration
Both parties may choose to collaborate on marketing efforts to enhance visibility and engagement, including joint promotions, testimonials, and cross-posting on social media.
The Trainer and Caregiver may negotiate participation in joint educational events to showcase their services at any point in the agreement.
8. Opt-Out & Limitations
Participation in referral perks is entirely voluntary. Caregivers may opt out of any perks (such as discounted classes or co-marketing).
Opting out of perks does not entitle the Caregiver to a replacement benefit, cash payment, or other compensation.
9. Duration and Termination
This agreement is valid for one year from the effective date and may be renewed upon mutual agreement.
Either party may terminate the agreement with 30 days' written notice. Any pending referrals or rewards must be fulfilled before termination.
10. Confidentiality
Both parties agree to protect the confidentiality of client information obtained through referrals. Client data will not be shared with third parties without prior consent.
11. Dispute Resolution
In the event of a dispute regarding referrals or rewards, both parties agree to resolve the matter through good faith negotiation. If unresolved, mediation by a neutral third party may be pursued.
12. Amendments
Any amendments to this agreement must be made in writing and signed by both parties.
