PJH Dog Training | Refund and Cancellation Policy
PJH Dog Training is committed to providing high-quality, personalized dog training services. To ensure clarity and fairness, the following refund and cancellation policies apply to all training packages, walks, and group classes:
1. Refunds After Training Has Commenced
Multi-session training packages are non-refundable once the first session has been completed. This policy reflects the time commitment, administrative preparation, and resources allocated to each client.
2. Unused Sessions
If a client is unable to complete a training package due to unforeseen personal circumstances, including relinquishment of the dog, PJH Dog Training may, at its sole discretion, offer a partial refund or credit for any remaining unused sessions. This will be considered only if:
Fewer than 50% of the sessions have been used, and
The client agrees to a $50 administrative fee, which will be deducted from any approved refund or credit.
Refunds are calculated by billing the completed sessions at the full single-session rate, plus any applicable processing or transaction fees, and subtracting that total from the original package price. The remaining balance (if any) will be refunded or credited to the client.
The request is submitted in writing within 30 days of the last completed session explaining the situation and that a reasonable effort was made to address the situation with the behavioral training techniques available to them at PJH Dog Training.
Refunds are calculated by billing the completed sessions at the full single-session rate, plus any applicable processing or transaction fees, and subtracting that total from the original package price. The remaining balance (if any) will be refunded or credited to the client.
Important Note on Pet Ownership & Refunds
At PJH Dog Training, we are committed to supporting responsible, informed pet ownership. Bringing a dog into your life should be a thoughtful decision, made with a clear understanding of the time, patience, and commitment required. Dogs bark, bite, jump, chew, and have accidents—especially in early stages or high-stress environments. These behaviors are normal, not defects.
Our refund policy does not accommodate changes of heart due to a mismatch in expectations. It is the responsibility of pet guardians to research breed characteristics and developmental needs before adopting or purchasing an animal. We do not offer refunds in cases where the challenges of dog ownership were underestimated or poorly planned for.
That said, if we have reason to believe that an animal is at risk of abuse, neglect, or unsafe housing, we may support rehoming efforts in the best interest of the dog. The welfare of the animal is always our top priority.
Refunds are calculated by billing the completed sessions at the full single-session rate, plus any applicable processing or transaction fees, and subtracting that total from the original package price. The remaining balance (if any) will be refunded or credited to the client.
Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis, particularly in situations where the client’s personal safety or well-being may be compromised by continuing training. Such requests must be documented (see above) and will be reviewed individually.
3. Transferability
Unused sessions may be transferred to another dog in the household, a foster dog, or gifted to another individual, subject to trainer approval.
4. No-Shows and Short-Notice Cancellations
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice or no-call/no-shows will be counted as completed sessions and are not eligible for rescheduling or refund.
5. Weather and Emergency Exceptions
Cancellations due to inclement weather, emergencies, or other mutually agreed-upon conditions will be rescheduled at no cost and will not count as forfeited sessions.
6. Group Class Cancellations and Missed Sessions
Group class fees are non-refundable.
Missed group classes cannot be rescheduled or credited.
Clients may request a private make-up session:
$50 for outdoor classes
$100 for indoor classes (includes space rental fees)
Private make-up sessions are subject to trainer availability and rental space scheduling and are not guaranteed.
Clients will still receive all printed or distributed class materials for any missed class, regardless of whether a make-up session is scheduled.
7. Missed or Canceled Sessions Due to Human or Dog Illness
All dogs must arrive in good health, free of symptoms such as diarrhea, coughing, or nasal/ocular discharge.
Dogs who appear ill will be sent home immediately.
Sessions canceled 24 hours or more in advance due to illness of either human or dog will be refunded in full or rescheduled without penalty.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice due to illness may be refunded or rescheduled at the discretion of Dr. Hernandez.
Clients are expected to notify PJH Dog Training as soon as possible, especially if illness symptoms emerge close to the appointment time.
Cancellations made less than one hour before the scheduled session may be charged in full, at Dr. Hernandez’s discretion.
Missed sessions should be rescheduled promptly to maintain progress in training.
Three or more consecutive cancelled appointments will result in the last appointment (or private training session) being considered used and will be ducted from the remaining sessions in the package certificate.
