Dog Training From a Trainer Who Works Where You Live

PJH Dog Training is based on the Upper West Side, so there is no cross-town commute, no travel fee, and a trainer who already knows your blocks. Sessions run in your apartment, your building’s common areas, and the streets and parks you actually use, from 59th Street to 110th Street.

Based at 2504 Broadway

Our indoor classes meet at 2504 Broadway at West 93rd Street, a short walk or bus ride for much of the neighborhood.

Between two parks

Central Park on one side and Riverside Park on the other give us great places to practice, and some of the busiest dog traffic in the city.

Standard rates, no area fee

The Upper West Side is inside our core Manhattan area, so you pay the standard session rate with nothing added for travel.

What Makes Upper West Side Dog Training Different

The Upper West Side is one of the most dog-dense neighborhoods in New York, and much of what a dog needs to learn happens in the building, not the park.

Prewar buildings & doormen

Shared landings, doorman lobbies, and old elevators mean your dog meets staff and neighbors many times a day. We train the greeting, the wait, and the walk through.

Brownstone side streets

Stoops and narrow sidewalks line the streets between the avenues, which makes steady loose-leash walking the skill that matters most.

Avenues & café tables

Broadway, Amsterdam, and Columbus add outdoor dining, markets, and constant foot traffic. We teach a calm settle beside your chair and polite passing.

Two parks, two rule sets

Riverside Park and Central Park have different layouts, entrances, and off-leash hours, so the plan for each one is different.

What we are called about

Everyday Upper West Side Situations We Train For

Most Upper West Side calls start with a moment in the building or on the block. Each has a specific plan, practiced where it happens.

The doorman and the package room

Dogs who jump on staff, pull toward the package room, or cannot settle while the lobby buzzes learn a simple routine: sit, wait, and greet on cue.

The stoop and the stairs

Brownstone steps and walk-up stairwells are a hurdle for puppies and a launch pad for pullers. We teach calm, controlled stairs and a polite exit at the door.

The café table

A dog who can lie down under a table on Amsterdam or Columbus makes outdoor brunch possible. We build that settle one small step at a time.

The thin-wall apartment

Barking at hallway noise and distress when you leave are the complaints that reach neighbors. We work on alone time and hallway sounds so the building stays peaceful.

Where We Train on the Upper West Side

We come to you, then widen the circle as your dog is ready:

Riverside Park

Long paths, river views, and plenty of other dogs make it a favorite for loose-leash walking and recall practice, building from quiet hours to busier ones.

Central Park West entrances

The park edge is useful for calm walking, a sit at the crossing, and recall on a long line.

Broadway, Amsterdam & Columbus

The proving ground. We add crowds and café tables only after a skill holds in quieter conditions.

Central Park allows dogs off leash before 9 a.m. and after 9 p.m. in designated areas. A reliable recall comes first, and we help you build it.
